Arup’s digital engineering innovations receive connecting smarter award

21 November 2018

Arup: Arup’s digital engineering innovations have once again been recognised with the recent award of the Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Digital Engineering Framework 2018 “Connecting Smarter Award”.

Entries were shortlisted and five were put to a public vote for the most innovative applications to the way industry works. Arup’s fast-paced video submission won, with its variety of smart problem-solving and cost-effective digital tools.

Used to bring projects to life for our clients and their communities, the digital tools included showcased virtual reality (VR) simulation and VR / augmented reality project review solutions, 3D project prototyping and digital construction sequencing.

Adding efficiencies for public and stakeholder consultation and web-based project review, our Project Portal - which draws together GIS, data capture and engineering - was also included.

While success with digital engineering has been realised within industry, implementation becomes more complicated when applied to an intricate multi-modal network such as TfNSW.

“We are very pleased to receive the TfNSW Digital Engineering Framework 2018 Connecting Smarter Award from an industry leader that is setting the standards for digital delivery of transport infrastructure. The award recognises the innovative solutions our teams are using on projects, delivering design efficiencies and cost savings for our clients.” - Andrew Lewis - Australasia Digital Engineering and BIM Leader
